At Cedar Creek Bait and Tackle, Tom reports over the last 2 weeks there were only 3 fishable days; the winds have kept anglers on shore. Tom received a report from Joe Austin who, along with Vernon Wallace went out on Tuesday fishing aboard the Shore Thing and reported catching a lot of flounder, almost all throwbacks with a mix of 18-20” blues on Gulp! minnows with a strip of squid in and around the Brown Shoal in 10-14’ water. Tom went offshore with Captain Eddie Reeder, his son Dustin, and Mark Lillquist; catching 1 mahi and 2 false albacore. The water was beautiful; nice weed line but the tuna and mahi weren’t cooperating.
Tom wants to remind everyone that tog reopens on Tuesday, Sept 29th and if the wind cooperates, he thinks the tog bite will be strong at the reef sites, Brandywine, the Haystacks, Mohawk, and the Wall.
Cedar Creek Bait and Tackle’s Flounder Tournament ended on Sep 22nd with Bob Bryant, Jr. winning $1,000.00 for a 9.69 lb flat. Stuart Welch placed 12th and Gene Heyman, who placed 13th each won a 6 month subscription to The Fisherman. Prizes continued to be donated after the start of the tournament which allowed for additional prizes while not necessarily descending in value. Tom would like to give a special thanks to all who participated in their non-profit Fight a Flounder for Cancer Tournament. John Chickadel of EP Sales, Getty Browning of St Croix, Dave Ptak, Capt. Dave Russell of Russell’s Charters, and The Fisherman are also extended a big “Thank You” for their generous donations toward the success of their tournament.
It’s not too early to schedule winterization and/or shrink wrap services. They will beat any competitor’s pricing and are offering an early bird, 10% discount on their already low prices until October 15th.
