At Cedar Creek Bait and Tackle, Tom reports the rock are out there thick!
Bunker has been extremely hard to obtain but Tom traveled out of state to locate fresh bunker for his customers, says he’ll travel to Alaska if he has to, to ensure his customers have fresh bunker. Some of your best striper fishing occurs when seas are rough, small craft warnings this time of year are an almost daily occurrence. If you have a 20’+ boat with winds under 15mph, with caution and safety foremost - the bay is still fishable and productive. Keep your life vests accessible or wear them and as always, maintain your safety equipment in top condition. For those who own smaller vessels or do not wish to operate in less than perfect weather, give Capt Dave Russell a call. He’s an excellent captain who takes pride in helping you put fish in the box. You can reach Capt. Dave of Miss Shyanne by calling(302) 335-FISH (3474)
Tog seems to be averaging 4+ lbs. Tom hasn’t had any throwbacks, except for females which is his personal choice to release so future generations can continue to enjoy the pleasures of fishing as we now have. He encourages fellow anglers to do the same.
On Sunday, Tom and Pat Morini fished Brandywine with great success, coming in with 2 shy of their limit on tog. Pat put a citation tog in the box weighing 9.2 lbs with an 18” girth. Pat also hooked into and boated a citation striper from Brandywine using ½ a green crab on a 2 hook drop loop bottom tog rig while tog fishing. The striper weighed 28.26 lbs with a 22 ¾” girth. On Thursday, Tom fished with Henry Boyd and Art Meding. They fished for tog at Brandywine and Site#6, coming ashore with 3 shy of their limit. On Friday, they were on the bay again; Art came ashore with a 7.125 lb citation tog with a 16 ¾” girth and they caught their limit from Site #6. On Saturday, Oct 31st, Ron Ranger, fishing from the shore off Conquest Rd hooked into a 32” striper. Ron reported the fish was skinny, REAL skinny; he could barely fillet. If you’ve stopped fishing for the season, give Cedar Creek Bait and Tackle a call to schedule winterization and/or shrink wrapping. Their prices are very competitive; they will beat any competitors’ pricing. You can see their latest catches and read the most up-to-date DE Bay fishing reports at www.cedarcreekbaitntackle.com. Tom’s got something up his sleeve for all of you drum fisherman coming this Spring! Send him an email and he might give up more information.
