How about the cold weather, extremely cold weather. There has been some decent fishing reports south on the flats from jaycee park all the way to the power plant. The water seems a little chilled for some wading anglers but the fish are there if you can bare the cold. To start off use a slow moving swimbait either doa cal or a hybrid flurry and slow moving twicthbaits to find some fish then once in a good enough spot the produces action then continue with the twicthbaits or switch to a semi-slow moving jerkbait for the bigger ones. The docks however seem to produce numbers of fish including reds, trout, snook, snapper and occasional sheepshead up to 4 lbs. The key by the docks seems to be live shrimp either free lining or a jighead tipped with shrimp and occasional gulp shrimp can produce nice slot reds. Enough about the docks how about the talk of the week which seems to be everyones hotspot. THE INLET. With reports of mackeral, bluefish, snook, jacks, flounder and occasionally a red will pop up every now and then. Fast and shiny lures work for macks, blues and jacks. pinfish, pigfish and mullet in 4-8 inch size have been very productive for snook in the inlet and jighead tipped with shrimp works for the flounder and in the shallows near the docks for those beautiful reds. Well in the spirit of fishing, fish free but fish fair. |
