Kona Hawaii November 30 Fishing Report

Kona Hawaii November 30 Fishing Report

November 30, 2008 Kona Fishing UPDATE!
The Kona deep sea fishing continues to be quite good for both Blue Marlin and Mahi Mahi. Yesterday, Tim and Sandra Stone from Portland, Oregon chartered Highnoon for their first Kona Fishing charter. We landed them two nice Mahi Mahi which I filet up for their condo meals. The day before, Derrick Ray from the San Diego area chartered us for a marlin fishing charter. His efforts were rewarded with a 183 lb Blue Marlin which hit a live skipjack tuna. And the day before that, Bryan and Megan Pearl from New Jersey chartered HighNoon for a full day charter. Bryan wanted to be out on the water at first light, so we left in the dark at 6 am. At 6:15 while setting our lines at first light, a nice 350 lb. Blue Marlin came up on the stinger lure just as I was trying to put it in the perfect position. It missed the lure the first time...but when it came back, I dropped it back for about a second before setting full drag. Megan jumped in the fighting chair and did a great job of bringing this fish to the boat for release. Funny, during the fight, she saw the Marlin jump near the boat and said in an incredulous voice " Is that really my fish???". Yes, Megan it was...and a lifetime memory for you and Bryan. A day earlier, Brent & Carla Garner from Utah chartered HighNoon for a full day fishing charter along with some snorkeling at Captain Cooks. It was a great day for Mahi Mahi....we caught 4 big Mahi....from 20-45 lbs. Then Brent and Carla discovered the beauty of Captain Cooks and the snorkeling there. We have also tagged and released two Blue Marlin earlier this month estimated at 300 and 200 lbs respectively. As for the fishing conditions, the Kona fishing conditions have been wonderful. Warm, clear and calm water conditons. Also our weather has been wonderful....air temps at 85 and the water temperature is a perfect 81 degrees...great for fishing and snorkeling.
