Last Wednesday was a great day to spend on the Back Bay of Biloxi and the Mississippi Sound. My clients were Matt Zvonkovic and Travis Hartzell of Houston, TX, and these college boys had the time of their lives. Started out in the bay where they caught caught 5 nice sheepshead, a black drum, and believe it or not a 2-pound freshwater blue catfish.
Once the strong north winds died down it was off to the oyster reefs in the Mississippi Sound. There, a steady bite of those delicious southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet" unfolded, and the duo caught fish as fast as a bait could be sent to the bottom.
Needless to say, they were having a blast, but Matt hooked into a big fish that took them by suprise. After a long hard run, a huge redfish rolled on the surface, and Matt was in for a long fight. However, in the end Matt was victorious, and a 40-inch bull redfish was landed.
With that big catch they decided to call it a day, and the final tally on ground mullet was 90, leaving behind fish still in a feeding frenzy. Could not have scripted a better outing. So come join us here in south Mississippi for some inshore light tackle fun. The fishing is just starting to heat up!
