Mattern Guide Service on Sam Rayburn & Palestine

Hello Everybody,

2nd Corinthians 5: 21 For He had made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God, In HIM.

SAM RAYBURN; Well it is the dead of winter and the bite for Bass has been up and down. 3-7 bites a day has been the norm. The Lake level is 157 with Water temps running 60's durrung warming trends between cold fronts and water in the 50's in the cold front times.

Bass have been hitting spinnerbaits and rattle traps worked around grass edges as well as wood cover. Some quality Bass in the 7 lb. range came to the boat with very few Bass under 4 lbs. Females are staging near spawning flats holding in 6- 13 feet.

Jigs and Texas rigged lizards have been catching also worked along these break lines. Jigs in Black & Blue and Black & Red as well as plastics in same colors have been catching these bigger females.

Be careful out there lots of sandbars and long sloping points have stranded more than one boat. Including me one day in the middle of a cold blowing northern. I had to get out of my boat and push until I thought I would drop dead in the water to get off that hidden rise of sand out in the middle of no where.

January will produce a few Bass over 10 lbs. with a 12 lber. thrown in. God bless and give us a call for a guided trip on a beautiful Lake.

LAKE PALESTINE: Bass are a tough bite right now with water temps in the 50's on cold days and 60 durring warming days between fronts. Lake level is still staying full at 345.

Rattle traps worked along deeper banks with some vegetation in the coves and cuts. Spinnerbaits worked slowly along wood and grass near creek channels are catching some quality Bass up to 6.5 lbs.

3-5 bites a day are the norm right now but quality is the norm rather the quanity.

Call or e-mail me for a guided trip out in God's Creation at 903-478-2633 or 903-724-0961.
