Bass fishing is Good. Most Bass have moved to main lake points, humps and main river channel ledges. Crank baits, Spinner baits and Carolina rigged plastics are always great baits to catch these fish on the drop offs. Look for the deep water patters to hold for the next few months. Spotted Bass are out on the deeper main lake points and river channel ledges. Carolina and Texas rigged plastics are producing good. Stroking a 3/8 ounce jig in a brown crawfish pattern with a Zoom chunk trailer in pumpkin seed is catching some good fish. Little River is producing some good spots on the river channel ledges above JR's Marina up to the Cave Hole.
Crappie fishing is Fair. The crappie are on the main Coosa River and creek channel ledges. Fishing brush piles in 10-18 feet of water with minnows and Jiffy Jigs is producing some great fishing. Shooting docks with a 1/24 ounce Jiffy Jig in Color JJ13 and JJ17 and JJ20 and JJ25 is producing some good catches. Bumping bottom with minnows in Little River and the Chattooga River is producing some good catches with a lot of bigger female Crappie.
Striper fishing is Good. Stripers are being caught in the main lake and a few are starting to show up in the lower Chattooga River below the Highway 35 bridge. Look for main lake points and drop offs in the Yellow Creek area and where Little River and the Chattooga River join the Coosa River Fishing live Shad on down lines on the edges of the main channel is always a great way to catch these hard fighting fish. Keep your boat on the edge of the points or drop offs in 12-20 feet of water with your baits at 8-10 feet deep. The bite has been very early in the morning over the last week and very late in the afternoon.
Catfish are biting Good. Catfish are being caught all over the lake. Jug fishing in the bays of the main lake is a sure way to load the boats with some nice fish, The docks at JR's Marina is producing some good fish also. Use cut bait, whole crappie heads or any kind of stink bait.
