Lake El Salto Comments:

As you probably know, we are coming off our best fishing season in years. Our customers enjoyed catching huge numbers of El Salto bass in the 7- to 10-pound range. And here’s great news: We expect the rainfall and lake levels to produce another banner season for 2009–2010. With the new season about to kick off Anglers Inn International resort at El Salto, customers already are catching 25 to 40 bass per outing. Most of these fish are in the 4- to 9-pound range, with some real hawgs up to 13 pounds!

Robert and Tracy Jones were among our most recent guests, and Robert wrote to say that he and his wife enjoyed some great bassing action. “Tracy caught the big fish of the trip on a blue-and-black Skinny Dipper Tony suggested,” he said. “We caught 20 to 30 fish in the 4- to 7-pound range. The overall quality of fish was better this trip than previous trips, with a greater number of larger fish caught on our day-trip visit.

“The accommodations were impeccable!” he continued. “My wife was extremely comfortable. Jose and the rest of Anglers Inn’s staff were helpful at every turn. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all fantastic! We were truly grateful to have the rare opportunity to fish with Tony, the head guy for Billy Chapman, Jr.’s Anglers Inn resort on Lake El Salto. I can’t imagine anyone knowing the lake better than he does.”

Eduardo Yoshii also had a chance to fish with Anglers inn guide manager Tony on his recent trip just prior to the season. “I felt fortunate to fish with Tony,” he said. “We enjoyed lunker bass action all day in many different points all around the lake. The most productive lures were soft plastics and swimbaits fished in 15 to 20-foot depths. Five of the biggest ones we caught—7 to 8 pounders—measured over 23 inches. I wonder how much weight they could gain in the next few weeks or during the spawning season. For people who know bass fishing tournament rules, Lake El Salto is like a dream. Just imagine catching five fish that weigh over 36 pounds! This can happen in a common day with common people as we did.”

Eduardo and Tony caught 52 fish during their day on the water, including 25 over 5 pounds, and two 8-pound lunkers. The most productive lures in order of effectiveness were swimbaits, plastic worms, lizards, crankbaits, Rat-L-Traps, jerkbaits and buzzbaits. Most fish were caught in stained shallow water in the morning, and while fishing 15- to 20-foot deep bumps and points all day.

As you can see, the new season is shaping up to be one of the very best ever. Already we have our pro staff pre-fishing the lake and locating all the honeyholes for double-digit bass. Our guides will be ready to put you on the hotspots as soon as you arrive. Of course, the great fishing is just part of the excitement at Anglers Inn International this year. We have lots of new things going on that will make your stay more enjoyable than ever.

One super-exciting development is our new alliance with Pueblo Bonito at Emerald Bay. This puts us in a unique position to offer unbelievable rates for the sportsman who wants to bring his family down for an unforgettable vacation. We want to be your family vacation destination, and we guarantee everything will done the Anglers Inn way, exceeding the ordinary. That is a promise! We kindly ask you for one shot at your next family vacation. And we will deliver!

And here’s more good news for those who want to enjoy a truly special adventure. Billy Chapman, Jr., pioneer of peacock bass fishing in the Amazon Basin and owner of Anglers Inn El Salto and Anglers Inn Mateos in Mexico, will start his latest South American outfitting venture in 2010. A trip to South America will be one you won’t forget as long as you live. And now you can enjoy it the Anglers Inn way—in style!

We’re looking forward to seeing all our friends again this season. Give us a call and let us make arrangements for your next visit as soon as you can. It’s going to be unforgettable … we promise!
