With the recent deep freeze, things have slowed up on the Salmon River. The river level has dropped to 285cfs, which decreases water speed and that, along with very cold air temps, creates a lot of slush in the water. The only area that can really be floated with a drift boat is the upper end, Altmar down to Pineville. The most productive method lately has been to drift egg sacs of beads under a float, of plug fish with Hot Shots of flatfish from a drift boat. We have 2-3ft of snow on the ground, along with a lot of shelf ice on the edges of the river. Stay safe...stay warm and good luck! |
