Well sorry for no reports for awhile I have been busy fishing tournaments and Guiding lately.
Finished 3rd in Bass Champs on Rayburn with 21.79 lbs. and finished 4th angler of the year for Bass Champs East division. For me that is quite an accomplishment.
Placed in other tournaments also but I thank Jesus for giving me fish wisdom to do it.
Sam Rayburn:
Was hitting Nichols spinnerbaits in white and chartruse combos early also Frogs like the stanley ribbit in watermelon pearl will get you bit but hold on after the strike a second then set the hook.
I use a triple grip hook with the bottom hook cut off as a trailer and you would be surprised how many Bass are caught only on the treble.
Wacky worm rigs in Watermelons are hard to beat after Sun gets up worked in 3-8 feet near pepper grass or Hydrilla. Good Bass up to 10.64 were hitting black and blue jigs worked in 8-12 feet near grasses.
Carolina rigs have been producing off main points in 12- 25 feet some work 12- 15 and some working deeper usin watermelon flukes and centipedes in watermelon red.
Richland Chambers:
I placed 20th. in Bass Champs there last Saturday with 13.36. Had a limit at 8:30 a.m. but just could not find the bigger fish. Nichols spinnerbaits and Texas rigged worms in plum and watermelons caught good. Bass were caught in 2 feet also on Texas rigged worms but best stringers came on Carolina rigs fished in 17-40 feet for 24 lbs. and 12 - 15 feet for others using watermelon lizards.
Lake Palestine: Water temps on most all lakes upper 70's to lower 80's depending if Sun or clouds are present. Topwaters like shad imitations, poppers,buzzbaits,frogs are catching in the or near the vegetation. Nichols spinnerbaits in Chartruses are working great with Bass up to about 7 lbs.
If you want to have some great fun. Take a spinning reel and rod, fill the spool with 10 lb. and fish 4 inch. watermelon candy zoom worms or similar around banks and boat docks. Rig up shakey head jigheads or dropshots set ups or a small bullet weight and go Texas.
