Smith Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

June 15th

It\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s been a couple day since I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve been able to post a report.  After a busy four days, I hit a wall on wednesday.  The sun put it to me and not long after dark I was headed in.  I spent Monday and Tuesday with a client from Michigan. He was in town visiting family and wanted to spend two days on the lake targeting bream. With the full moon two days away, I knew we would hammer them.  We spent both days running up and down the lake. Other than the heat, everything was great. We limited out both days, and on Tuesday his Yeti cooler had more bream than I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve ever boated in two days. I figure he spent the next day of his trip cleaning fish.

On wednesday I spent the afternoon looking for big schools of fish. I had a client coming at 6pm. We met at Misty Harbor and launched from there. He had expressed  that he wanted a hat trick on bass, stripe, and crappie.  We headed out to start the evening fishing points and humps for bass. We fished several points and caught some ok fish, but nothing of any size.  We moved to a hump sitting in 43 feet with the hump rising to 24 feet. He hooked up with the best two bass of the day.  One was a 4 lb. spot, and he also boated a 3 1/2 lb. largemouth.  We fished topwater for the last 40 minutes of day light and boated several, but no big ones. With dark at hand it was time for some stripe and crappie action.  As I tied on some lures my head started hurting and my body started to feel weird.  I shook it off and we headed to our first light of the night.  It took him three cast and he hooked up with a good one. After a good fight he landed a 13 lb. Stripe. About 7 minutes after that he hooked another one, but lost it close to the boat. After that we couldn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t get another stripe to bite there, so we headed to a new spot. On the way I hit rock bottom. I went from feeling bad to spending half the ride hung over the boat. As we got to the second light I started dry heeving. Need less to say we called it a night. Thanks again Blake for understanding.
