If I were fishing the chain tomorrow I would focus on paralleling the grass (to 20 ft out) with a Yozuri Gold Rattlin’ Vibe while flipping the grass at the same time. Since the chain has seen one spawn at least there are several post-spawn areas that they sometime concentrate around due to the sparse hydrilla offshore. Those areas are the 1) area between Florida Angler’s Resort (Lake Harris) and the point southwest of the Leesburg Airport, 2) Bay in front of Venetian Gardens (Lake Harris) over to Johnsons Point , 3) east wall of Lake Eustis in front of the Hospital. Spawn areas include the 9th St. canal (Harris), area west of Long Island (Harris), Green Cove (Harris), Canals in Little Lake Harris (especially the 2nd and 3rd), and the south end of Little Lake Harris as it turns into a river, Canals in the Dead River, and the Gator Hole. Key production areas include the North side of Little Lake Harris east of the bridge, area around the Astatula Boat Ramp, point on the west side of Little Lake Harris, point across from Horse Shoe Island, Johnson’s Point, and the point across from Jonhson’s point on the south shore of Harris (there are a few humps off shore). |
